(More customer reviews)I have a lot of hang-track installations in my closets, but I also had a small space in my basement where I wanted a work bench.I used this system because of the low cost (less than 50% of the prettier powder-coated versions) and the high strength -- since I wanted the brackets to support a work surface.1x80" track (so I could add shelving to the end later), 3x48" standards, 3x20" braced brackets.I used my own bolts and anchors, and normal shelf brackets also fit, so I used those for a shelf above the bench. All told, the parts cost me $30.I played around with spacing the standards (to accommodate a free-standing drawer unit under the work surface), and then anchored the standards to the wall -- in addition to hanging from the track, I didn't want them shifting from side to side. The work surface is solid mahogany 1-1/2" thick, 53" wide, 20" deep (an old dining room table top). With everything installed, there is no noticeable shifting -- I am able to work on it without any movement.I don't think I'd risk hammering anything very aggressively on it, and I'll probably keep any aggressive filing or sanding parallel to the brackets (I don't want to push my luck with side to side pressures).Intended use: small repairs, guitar work (which will involve sanding and filing, and light hammering), crafts (sawing, filing, sanding). All in all, I'm extremely pleased with the outcome.A somewhat comparable set of the white power-coated sets (80" track, 4x30" runners, 4x12" brackets) cost me double what the John Sterling did.In the future, anywhere industrial galvanized looks ok, I'll give this product first consideration -- I have plans for it in my garage, in fact.4 stars instead of 5 because it IS galvanized, so it's got that light oil coat on it, it's rough to work with (easy to get cut or jabbed), and the depth of the standards makes them a bit tricky to anchor to walls. Also, the product line doesn't have a lot of accessories -- some more tool hanging options or parts bins units, might be nice, but I don't think that's really what they were targeting with this product line.Still, fantastic value, and perfect for my needs on this project!
